Be Aware of Telemarketer from Fake Alarm Company!
The Reynoldsburg Division of Police is investigating complaints from citizens for unsolicited calls asking about the resident’s alarm service. The caller attempts to sound like a telemarketer selling alarm services in the area. At least 6 residents in the City have received such calls. The police department believes this may be a scam to discover whether or not the residence has an alarm.
Reynoldsburg Police Lieutenant Ron Wright says, “Should you receive a call from an alarm company, especially unsolicited by you, don’t tell them whether you have an alarm or not. Tell the caller that you are satisfied with the services you have. Your alarm services, or lack there of, shouldn’t be shared with people you don’t know and trust.”
If you don’t want calls from alarm companies or other telemarketing companies you can add your phone number to the National Do Not Call registry at www.donotcall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222. You can register landlines and cellphones on the National Registry. You may also file complaints with the national registry after being registered and still receiving telemarketing calls .
