Applications for Reynoldsburg Boards and Commissions are due Nov. 30th. Volunteer and make a difference in the community.

The City of Reynoldsburg is always seeking individuals who have an interest in serving our community. Serving on a board or commission is a great way for Reynoldsburg residents to provide valuable input and make a positive impact in their community.

We have outlined some of the City of Reynoldsburg's Boards and Commissions below and encourage you to get involved.


Board of Building & Zoning Appeals

Established by:   Section 7.02 of the City Charter

Membership:  Five member board made up of citizens holding no other City office or employment.  Members serve three year terms.  The Board elects a chair and vice-chair annually.  The Board meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30pm.

The BZBA has the power to hear and decide appeals for exceptions (variances) to resolutions, ordinances, regulations, and administrative orders governing zoning, building, property maintenance, and housing within the City.  The Board makes advisory recommendations to City Council and Planning Commission regarding matters it believes to be in the best interest of the City.

Planning Commission

Established by:   Section 7.01 of the City Charter

Membership:  Five member commission made up of citizens holding no other City office or employment.  Members serve three year terms. Members should have a background in city planning, law, finance, real estate, community development, architecture, civil engineering, or a related field. The Commission meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30pm.

The Planning Commission is responsible for the review of zoning applications for district changes, review zoning regulation changes, review plats and subdivision regulations, and other duties as provided by Council.

Charter Review Commission

Established by:   Section 7.05 of the City Charter

Membership:  During the month of January, 1982 and each five years thereafter, Council shall appoint, by a majority vote of its members, a Charter Review Commission consisting of five members who are electors of the City. Not more than two of the members shall be adherents of the same political party.

The Charter Review Commission shall study and review the provisions of this Charter and the operations of the City and shall report its recommendations, if any, for changes or revisions in this Charter to Council.

Ward Boundary Commission

Established by:   Section 3.02 of the City Charter

Membership:  Ward Boundary Commission shall consist of 5 electors to serve overlapping terms of four years, 3 serve a 4 year term and 2 serve a 2 year term.  Member shall be appointed by Council with no more than 2 members being from the same political party and no more than 2 electors from any given ward with each ward being represented.

The Ward Boundary Commission shall, following each decennial census, and at least ninety days prior to the date candidates for Ward Council seats must file for office for the second regular municipal election after the decennial census. The Commission shall propose the re-division of the City into four wards of substantially equal population in each ward, by the preparation of an ordinance or resolution, approved as to form by the City Attorney, and file such proposal with the Clerk of Council.
